Energy Law Issues

Our annual Energy Law Edition is the fruition of a longstanding partnership between the Alberta Law Review and the Canadian Energy Law Foundation (CELF). Every year, the CELF hosts its Annual Jasper Research Seminar, an event devoted to the exploration of energy law topics of current interest that attracts practitioners from across the country. At the Seminar, many attendees submit papers and make presentations on a variety of topics. Afterwards, our editorial team edits the papers and publishes them as the articles of the Energy Law Edition. By publishing an annual issue devoted exclusively to exploring energy law, the Alberta Law Review aims to enrich intellectual discourse on this exciting practice area and promote the legal research and scholarship of top-level energy practitioners.

The CELF is a non-profit organization that seeks to enhance knowledge and understanding of energy law. It generously contributes a substantial amount of the cost of editing and publishing the Energy Law Edition. For more information on the CELF, please see their website at:

Short critical commentary on any of these articles is welcome and should be forwarded to either of the Papers Co-Chairs of the Energy Law Edition.
